Roman Mars
This book is the perfect mix of learning random facts that stick around in the mind and nurturing the reader's curiosity about the design of everyday things. A great read anyone who has wondered why things in our cities are the way they are. The book itself is also very well-designed. The book features a half-height book jacket that serves as written guide for the design diagram that comprises a large part of the cover itself.
"Tensions like these can be found at the intersection of a lot of top-down plans and bottom-up approaches— conflicts between different visions for what a city can and should be and how it should serve its citizens." (346)
